What Is a Walk With Mwaki?
Mwaki is an 80kg Neapolitan Mastiff. He moves slowly, stays calm, and is completely unbothered by the world around him. He does not stare. He does not lunge. He does not react.
A Walk With Mwaki is a structured, real-world reactive dog training session where your dog walks in the presence of Mwaki at a safe distance, entirely under threshold. This is not forced socialisation. Your dog never has to interact with Mwaki at all. The goal is simple: your dog learns that another dog can exist nearby, nothing bad happens, and the world stays safe.
Calmness
Practise switching off from other dogs and returning to a relaxed, settled state during real-world walks.
Neutrality
Reduce fixation and hypervigilance around other dogs — learn to pass without reacting.
Confidence
Build genuine, lasting confidence through controlled, positive exposure to a predictable training dog.
Emotional Regulation
Help your dog manage stress, stay below threshold, and make better choices under pressure.
Reframing Reactivity
Many Reactive Dog Owners Believe…
These are the most common misconceptions about reactive dog training. If any sound familiar, you are not alone — and this service was built for exactly this.
What You Will Learn
This session is as much about you as it is about your dog. You will leave with practical handler skills you can use every time you walk.
What Your Dog Will Learn
Reactive dog behaviour coaching is not about forcing your dog to be social. It is about giving them the tools to feel genuinely safe.
Success is not measured by dogs greeting each other.
Success is your dog seeing another dog — and staying calm, thinking clearly, and choosing to move away or engage with you instead.
Why Train With a Neutral Dog?
Most reactive dogs do not struggle with all dogs. They struggle with unpredictable ones — dogs that rush over, stare, or move erratically. Mwaki removes almost all of that uncertainty. His size means he moves slowly. His temperament means he is completely unbothered. Clients regularly tell me their dog was calmer around Mwaki in the first session than they had been around any other dog in months.
Predictability
Mwaki’s calm, consistent behaviour removes the unpredictability that drives reactivity in nervous and frustrated dogs.
Confidence Building
Safe, controlled exposure allows your dog to build genuine confidence at their own pace, without pressure.
Reduced Overwhelm
Starting at the right distance keeps your dog under threshold — meaning they can actually learn rather than just react.
Real-Life Application
Sessions happen on real outdoor walks in Essex and Hertfordshire — not in a sterile classroom environment.

What Clients Say
Real Results From Real Reactive Dog Owners
“We were unsure at first as my Frenchie Luna usually goes mad at any big dog, but 10 minutes in — for the first time ever — she was absolutely neutral to both Anyango and Mwaki. It was so nice to see first-hand what dedicating time to your relationship with your dog can actually do. I thought Luna needed to see more dogs but Anyango helped massively by explaining how to create more confidence and value in our relationship.”
— Owner of Luna, French Bulldog
“Both Anyango and Mwaki are an incredible duo — very polite, calm and reassuring. I have struggled to take my dog out due to his reactivity and tend to walk at really early or late hours. Meeting in public was a big step for me, but Anyango gave me the confidence by showing me how to better advocate for my Lab Teddie. An off-lead dog even approached and she dealt with it cleanly and professionally. We are now working up the courage to attend one of her weekend sessions.”
— Owner of Teddie, Labrador
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my dog have to meet or greet Mwaki?
No. There is absolutely no requirement for your dog to meet or greet Mwaki at any point. The session is built entirely around keeping both dogs at a comfortable distance. If your dog is ready to get closer over time, great — but it is never the goal or expectation.
What if my dog is very reactive?
That is exactly who this session is designed for. We always start at a distance where your dog can see Mwaki without reacting. There is no rush to get closer. Even the most reactive dogs can make meaningful progress in a controlled, low-pressure environment.
What if my dog is nervous or fearful rather than aggressive?
Nervous and fearful dogs benefit enormously from exposure to a calm, neutral dog like Mwaki. Because he is entirely predictable and non-threatening, anxious dogs often relax far faster than owners expect. This is a very common outcome.
My dog has lunged at or bitten other dogs before. Can we still book?
In many cases, yes. The controlled distance means your dog never gets close enough to reach a reaction threshold in a first session. Please be detailed on the enquiry form so I have a full picture of your dog’s history.
Do I need to have done previous training before booking?
No. You can book a Walk With Mwaki as a standalone session. If your dog has significant reactivity history, I may suggest combining it with a 1-to-1 handler coaching session so you leave with a fuller picture.
What should I bring to the session?
Bring your dog on their usual walking equipment (harness and lead), high-value treats they love, a treat pouch if you have one, and weather-appropriate clothing. I will bring everything else.
How long does it take to see progress?
Some dogs show visible improvement within a single session. For others, progress is more gradual. Most clients use Walk With Mwaki sessions as part of a longer-term reactive dog behaviour support plan. I will give you honest expectations based on your dog after the session.
Where do sessions take place?
Primarily in Harlow and surrounding Essex and Hertfordshire areas — including Ware, Sawbridgeworth, Bishop’s Stortford, Epping, Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, and Enfield. Further travel is available — get in touch to discuss.
