Dog Trainer in Stevenage & Hertfordshire
If you’re in Stevenage or the wider Hertfordshire area and struggling with a reactive dog, I travel to you. I’m Anyango, founder of Droopy Chaos Dog Training, based in Harlow, Essex. I work with reactive, anxious, and overwhelmed dogs — and their owners — across Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and beyond, bringing in-person training right to the environments where the problems actually happen.
Stevenage sits in my regular travel area. I’ve worked with clients across Hertfordshire, and I understand the mix of busy town streets, quieter residential areas, and open countryside walks that make up daily life with a dog there. We work in your world — not a training hall.
Reactive Dog Training in Stevenage That Starts With Understanding
Most dog training focuses on commands. And most reactive dog owners have already tried commands — and found that when their dog is flooded and overwhelmed, no command in the world cuts through.
I start at the root of it. I work on emotional regulation first — helping your dog reach a calmer baseline so the triggers that used to send them over the edge gradually lose their power. When your dog feels safer in their body, they can start to learn. Until then, we’re just managing.
And I coach you too — because the way you respond in those high-stress moments directly affects how your dog recovers from them. My sessions in Stevenage are as much about building your confidence and understanding as your dog’s.
Services Available in Stevenage & Hertfordshire
1-to-1 Handler Coaching — from £75
I come to you in Stevenage or your area of Hertfordshire and we work in your real environment — your streets, your usual walks, the routes that give your dog trouble. We assess what’s happening, build a plan around your dog’s specific triggers, and I coach you through every step. Includes pre-session intake and written notes after every session.
Walk With Mwaki — £75
Mwaki is my 80kg Neapolitan Mastiff — a calm, neutral, gentle giant who I use as a training dog for reactive dogs who struggle around other dogs. Walking alongside Mwaki at a safe distance, in a controlled way, gives reactive dogs a positive experience with another dog without the chaos that usually sets them off. Available in Stevenage by arrangement.
Virtual Coaching — £60
If you’d like to start before booking an in-person session, virtual coaching is a great first step. We cover your dog’s history and triggers, I explain what’s likely happening and why, and you leave with a clear plan to start working on. Many Hertfordshire clients begin online and move to in-person sessions from there.
Why Droopy Chaos Is Different
I came to dog training through my own reactive dog, Aza. I failed her before I understood what was actually happening — I took her to trainers who made things worse, tried methods that suppressed the behaviour without addressing the emotion underneath it, and spent years feeling like I was doing everything wrong.
I built Droopy Chaos because I wanted to offer what I wish I’d had: a trainer who starts with understanding. Who sees a reactive dog not as a behaviour problem but as an animal with a nervous system that’s been overwhelmed. Who tells you the honest, complicated truth rather than giving you a script to follow.
That’s what I bring to Stevenage. That’s what I bring everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions — Dog Training in Stevenage
Do you travel to Stevenage from Harlow?
Yes. Stevenage is within my regular travel area for 1-to-1 sessions. Travel costs may apply depending on your exact location — I’ll always discuss this openly before we book.
How many sessions will my dog need?
It genuinely varies. Some dogs make significant progress in 3–4 sessions; others with more complex histories need longer-term support. I’ll give you an honest picture after we’ve spent time together — I won’t book sessions you don’t need.
My dog reacts to people as well as dogs. Can you help?
Yes. Reactivity to people — strangers, children, men, cyclists — is just as common as dog-directed reactivity, and the approach is the same: understand what’s driving the emotional response and help your dog build the capacity to cope. Whatever the triggers, that’s where we start.
I’ve tried other trainers and nothing has worked. Is this different?
Possibly. If previous training focused on managing the behaviour rather than the emotional state underneath it, yes — this is different. Tell me what you’ve tried. I’ll be honest about whether I think I can help and what a different approach might look like.
Are you insured?
Yes, I hold full professional liability insurance for all training and care services.
